He Sapa Wacipi Na Oskate ‘26 @Trinity Lends His Horse Original video take of the Women Warriors dancing the ‘Ipsi Waci’ during the SNL Veterans Special. Sorry for the shakiness. I wanted to capture my daughter Trinity dancing but also follow protocol and honor our Veterans out of respect. I was standing with a lot of professional photographers and chit chatted with them in between. When I told them my daughter was going to dance and how proud I was of her, they told me to “stand here” and cleared a way for me. They didn’t have too and I thought that was sweet of them. Now I need to learn how to use my own camera to capture better film. Brian said, “You have that expensive piece of equipment and you didn’t learn yet? Give it to me, I’ll use it.” That was a hard “No” for me. Lol! Wakinyan Luta sang so beautifully. I’ll always have love & respect for Wakinyan Luta because they sang all the songs for my daughter Lourdes’s special 2 years ago. Plus, my childhood friend is one of their Wicaglata’s so to hear them sing a song Trinity danced too was a treat for me. This is the first time Trinity danced ‘Ipsi Waci’ and she knew exactly what to do. Being out the circle for years and coming back has been a great feeling. She was a fancy dancer as a little girl so to see her still hold a beat, puts a smile on my face. ‘Ipsi Waci’ is a Lakota/Dakota Akicita dance, celebrating the return our warriors from war. The people would dance stationary on the outside and the Akicita would dance inside the circle in victory. We are all taught differently so I don’t debate what’s right or wrong, respectfully. ‘Ipsi Waci’ in recent years, has grown in popularity but this was the first time I ever seen Women Warriors dance to it by themselves. Very appropriate. The Lakota/Dakota hold our Akicita to the highest level. Across Lakota/Dakota country, you’ll hear and see a lot of song & dance honoring them. Our tribe, the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, take great pride in all our Akicita and the CRST Veterans did a great job hosting on Saturday at He Sapa. I’m very appreciative and proud of them and the ‘Lakota Women Warriors’ for helping Trinity transition into the duties of a Warrior within the powwow circle. Our love for powwows is generational and we love being apart of every celebration. If you ever gave Trinity gratitude, guidance or encouragement…I ‘Thank You’. She is friendly and has a great sense of humor so if you ever see her, don’t be shy to say “Hi”. Believe me, she looooves to socialize but don’t get her started, she is a fiesty one & quick witted. She’ll have you either clutching your pearls or bustin’ a gut. Lol! She is one of my favorite people to be around. There is never a dull moment with my first love. I will always support our U.S. Service Men & Women. I pray for you all every day. Thank you for your service❤️ #CRST #Lakota #HeSapa #WomenWarriors #MarineMom
