I left a chuch in NYC, when the pastor asked that those who didn't give an offering on that particular day, to stand. I thought was disgusting and totally uncalled for.

To give 10%, or tithe to your local church, it is a choice. Malachi 3:10, which is OT, still applies today. If you want the windows of heaven to pour out blessings that you don’t have enough room to receive, tithe. If you don’t want the blessings, then don’t tithe. Simple as that.
