Incredible... how do you know that I laugh when I’m by myself? Well, the trick is that whenever I’m feeling sad, tired, or truly down—often due to the sarcasm of others—I take a break and tell myself a joke out loud. I’ve actually compiled a list of about a hundred jokes, and I’ve assigned a serial number to each one. Now, instead of repeating them like a parrot, I just say to myself, "Number 34!" and I end up rolling on the floor with laughter. I’ve always wished I could share these fits of laughter with someone else—a lifelong companion. Laughter is a cure for stress and a safeguard against depression... Alas.
