@moviegoodormoviebad: You can write down the name of a movie. You can Google it. You can do research. You can find reviews. You can put in an ounce of effort to support a movie in a way that is financial possible to you #indiefilm #wildwood #wicker #youcanseeeverything #chronovisor
I’ve been living at the Coolidge Corner Theater this last moth. Every weekend, I’m hauling ass into Boston it feels

Do people not know how easy it is to make a saved playlist of what to watch? Open up your Notes app and make a checklist!

As an aside, The Devils was well worth seeing on the big screen.

as a movie lover I hate that I don't have enough time and money to support all the movies or physical media companies that I'd like to. but I'm going to keep trying.

"this is a pro piracy page" THANK YOU, yes I love supporting films and seeing them in theatres, but piracy helps make media in general so much more accessible to people around the world where a movie may never have been released/distributed in the first place.

Your library also may have access to the streaming service Kanopy which frequently has more foreign and independent movies.

I spend on average 25 hours a week travelling to watch independent cinema. The people that complain that there aren’t good movies coming out aren’t looking hard enough

Australian here! unless its a blockbuster (not popular, blockbusters), we're lucky to get a film 2 to 8 months later, if at all if its an indie. we're lucky to be getting primetime and you can see everything only a month late. just takes patience, and annoying every cinema in your local area to find distribution

I am of the opinion that piracy keeps art alive. The popularity of the 480p uncut version of The Devils making its rounds on the high seas showed that the interest was there. I’ve seen it. Now I get to drive an hour to see it in all its 4k restored glory. I felt like this was a once in a lifetime experience I had to make work for myself. Since becoming a mom 4 years ago, this only the second time I’ve gotten a babysitter to do something without child.

Yeah i realized earlier this year i had missed a few films i wanted to see in theaters, so i started putting the release date in my phone calendar the moment i see the trailer and feel interested. As you say, jotting down a reminder is not hard. 😆

“I save the video and forget about it” then don’t forget it? 😭 I keep a list on Letterboxd with release dates of movies I’m looking forward to and it’s been such a great way to catch indie movies! It doesn’t always work out (I rely on public transit in LA and have weird work hours) but at least I’m trying

It's like people expect to watch movies the way they buy stuff on tiktok shop. Every time I get an ad of someone hocking the DVD of Over The Garden Wall saying it's in danger of becoming lost media when it leaves streaming I go a little more insane because they are literally holding and selling the media! Convenience and accessibility are not synonymous, yet people conflate them all the time.

A couple years ago I went viral on Twitter for saying something very similar in regards to Missing Link and how it’s “we want original films until it’s time to support original films” and got met with every excuse in the book as to why they couldn’t and it’s just like cool so we’re just gonna moan and groan everytime a Laika movie comes out on repeat then I guess.

I did an indie film class in college, an assignment was figure out a way to get to an indie theater and see something not in wide release. We lived in west bumble, Maryland so I had to find a friend with a car and get them to drive me to Baltimore, some ppl went to Philly, but it was a GREAT lesson in how to search out indie movies!!
