You know that old meme of the girl watching a person put different shapes into the square hole, and the girl just has a mental breakdown? I feel like a lot of people on the internet are like that but not ironically. They genuinely cannot accept it when some thing or idea does not fit neatly into the category box they made in their head. They completely flip their lid when people use words freely and creatively. Like we can call something French Toast even though it has nothing to do with France, and they lose their minds

German Chocolate Cake isn't named for Germany ANYWAY.... It's named for an American Chocolate Maker named Samuel German who came up with the type of sweet dark baking chocolate and the lady from Texas who came up with the Cake used that type of chocolate to make the cake for the first time and named it after him

OK I'm walking into this with no context but number one that was a shitload of interesting food facts 👍 and number two I actually really did think American cheese was from here. I will say that does feel like a little more of a descriptive term than some of the other examples. Don't have a dog in this fight though
