@joshuaaalampour: @Kyan Motors Working on cylinder spacing for the Kyan DI-10 “Dies Irae,” our 3.0L naturally aspirated V10. I want the cylinders packed as tight as possible. A shorter engine is lighter, the crank is stiffer, and the whole thing sits better in the car. So I set the bores at 97 mm with centers 103.5 mm apart, which leaves just 6.5 mm of metal between neighboring cylinders. My first idea was wet liners: separate sleeves with coolant flowing around them. But two liner walls, two coolant gaps and a land in the middle add up to 9.5 mm (so 3 mm more than I’ve got). I didn’t want to spread the cylinders apart and lose the compact package, so I’m switching to coated parent bores. The pistons run right on the block’s own metal, which gets a hard coating. That frees up room for 1.75 mm of metal, a 3 mm coolant passage, then another 1.75 mm (so exactly 6.5 mm) Coating, cooling and hot strength still need proper checks, but the geometry works, and I keep the engine as tight as I wanted :) will keep u all updated
