there will never be the right time or place to make this post, and i am still in denial that this is real. i am still trying to wrap my head around the fact that you’re actually gone yeay. my bestfriend, my second mum, my favourite person in the whole world, my everything. the bond my yeay and i had was special. a granddaughter-grandmother-bond like no other. she was there for me through thick and thin, always there to support me. my yeay and i were so close, she knew things about my life and upcoming plans before i even told my friends or family (anyone). my yeay was always positive, caring, loving, extroverted, a people’s person, full of joy and character. she could make any person she met feel like family. my yeay was the most perfect yeay. the best yeay I could’ve ever asked for. she helped raise me. she is the reason i can speak the khmer (cambodian) language, why i know how to khmer dance, and better yet, part of the reason i am who i am today. i am so forever grateful to my yeay for being the reason i am so deeply rooted in my cambodian culture. i believe i get many of my attributes from my yeay and i want to be just like her when, i too, become a yeay. i also want my grandchildren to call me yeay, just like i do to you. you were always proud of your children and grandchildren, the lineage you created. we are so incredibly proud that you are our yeay too. my heart hurts, i’m heartbroken. how lucky am i, to have experienced a love like yours. a love so deep and strong, i will miss it more than words can even express. the rock of our entire family. thank you for everything you have done for me, i am so grateful. please visit me in my dreams a lot yeay. the only thing bringing me the slightest piece of ease is knowing that you are now reunited with mum, your first-born child, in heaven. i am so happy that you both get to finally be with each other and can watch over everyone from up above ☁️ i love you so much yeay. kyom salang yeay chroun. i miss you. kyom nick yeay. love the one who made you a grandma, your first grandchild, daniella, or as you liked to call me, “dandila” 🥹🫀
