@thesportsontap: Foster Moreau caught two touchdowns today. Three years ago he walked into a free agent visit with his hometown team, and their doctor felt a lump on his neck. That visit is how he found out he had cancer. Here is the whole thing. He is from New Orleans. Jesuit High School, then LSU, then four seasons with the Raiders. Then he hit free agency, and the Saints brought him in. The team in the city he grew up in. Routine physical. The Saints team doctor, John Amoss, felt the lump. Then he asked him something. "You've heard of Hodgkin's lymphoma, right?" Moreau had noticed it. He thought it was nothing. "I didn't think it was anything. I thought I was coming down with a cold." It was stage 2. It had already spread, slowly. He stepped away from football. He cried in his mother's arms for the first time in years. Then he did the only thing he had ever known how to do with something lined up across from him. He studied it. "So I'm preparing for my opponent, right?" Six to eight hours at a time on an IV. And here is what he told people who are scared of what a doctor might find. "It's not gonna change the outcome, right? It's better to know." Now here is the part almost nobody remembers. In May, with the treatment finished, the Saints signed him anyway. Three years, 12 million dollars, 8 million of it guaranteed. The remission news was still two months out. They did not wait for it. Then it came. "After a few tumultuous months, I've been blessed with the news that I am in full remission from Hodgkin Lymphoma!" He is with the Texans now. Today in Jacksonville he caught a 6 yard touchdown and a 1 yard touchdown. Houston took it 34 to 31. Now the honest part. He is a blocking tight end, not a star, and the kick at the end is why Houston won. But Houston scored four touchdowns in that building, and he caught half of them. He walked into a building three years ago to get a contract. He walked out knowing. #nfl #nflnews #nflfootball #texans #houstontexans
