I put family on contract. Husband put himself through school, no one helped but everyone wanted his knowledge and ability. He would do an hour of seeing whats wrong. But than charge his hourly rate.

took my 2021 Trailblazer in because my sway bar link on the driver's side snapped off (it literally sounded like i ran over a rock on pavement). $130, not bad, but they said my rear brakes where metal on metal and needed pads and rotors. ok... how much.... 4hr labor at $185hr with parts came to $1,200.... one of the mechanics told me out side that they have crazy mark-ups on parts, and just to do it myself. so $180 and 4hr later new pads and rotors.
