@upnorthlivenews: A trailer is back upright and no canoes were lost after a gust of wind caused a trailer carrying eight canoes to tip over on the Mackinac Bridge. On Oct. 17 around 11:12 p.m., the Michigan State Police said troopers responded to a trailer that had tipped over while crossing the Mackinac Bridge. Troopers said the trailer was being pulled by a pickup truck and was carrying eight canoes. While the truck was pulling the trailer, a gust of wind came tipping the trailer over against the bridge railing in the northbound lanes. Troopers said they helped keep the driver and his dog safe and warm inside the patrol car while they waited for George’s Towing from St. Ignace to arrive on the scene to help get the trailer upright. Once Georges Towing arrived, troopers said workers were able to pull the trailer back on the road and upright again without losing a single canoe. The goal, once the trailer was upright again, was to get everyone to the north side of the bridge safely, said troopers. To keep the trailer from tipping, the tow truck stayed attached to the canoe trailer while troopers escorted everyone to the north side of the bridge. #caraccident #windy #traileraccident #mackinacbridge #fyp
