A convicted sex offender with 16 prior convictions who repeatedly flouted strict public protection bans has been jailed for his fifth court breach. Isle of Wight Crown Court heard that Vincent Maunder, 45, was subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order originally imposed following convictions for kidnapping and exposure in 2018. Despite receiving three separate suspended sentences and prison time for previous breaches, Maunder breached his terms again. Police discovered Maunder purchased an internet-enabled laptop whilst living in a van on the island and deliberately deleted its internet browsing history. Representing himself, Maunder claimed the case was staged, but the jury rejected his story in under an hour. Judge William Ashworth sentenced Maunder to 12 months' imprisonment. Because he had already served seven months on remand, Maunder could be released on licence within days.
