The best sleep I ever had was when I was 12 or 13 and our community dancers travelled to Chisasibi near James Bay for a pow wow and they had teepees set up for us to sleep in and the first night I remember lying down on the cedar bough bed, closing my eyes and the next the thing I knew it was morning! lol it was magical!! ❤️

They survived in winter in tipis … in the bottom of a valley with two layers of hides and insulated with pine or cedar bows on the ground and a layer of thick hide over the bows . Fire in the canter and you have a warm tipi to survive the harsh winter temps
