So glad you’re covering this - I did not want to have to listen to a man explain it to me 😩 now I’m all caught up on the drama 🤓

As a Red Wings fan I’m so over the Larkin drama. You can see it clear on the ice and the dynamic of the team just isn’t what it should be. And given the fact we still don’t have a GM doesn’t help. The Wings are gonna be something of a dumpster fire this season

Just put it in the contract that no trade/movement clauses are voided if a trade is requested. Once they request a trade they get a modified list of teams they can’t be traded to. 6-8 team no trades list and that’s it.

I started watching hockey after 4 nations last year and I really appreciate your breakdowns. I’ve learned so much from you

Sad to see an Olympic Gold goalie in this situation. I wish he had handled it differently. It is sickening to see a goalie this talented not playing.

has any star player ever negotiated a no trade clause involving a second player.... like they will sign a long contract but only if the team also keeps another player?

Thank you so much for explaining the situation! It seems to me as though some players' egos get pretty big after some time in the league, especially some of the Olympic heroes 🙃

Teams also used them to pay players less money. And teams would bully players occasionally if they wanted to agree to be traded to more places (see Trouba). Teams just need to negotiate better clauses but I don’t blame players for leveraging them since teams have used them as they saw fit in the past.

I can see Larkin’s side. He was with them already for so long I believe since his career and he just wants a good chance at the cup. Idk how long Conner has been with the jets. I can see both sides that their teams are not happy about the request and the fans.

He must be so embarrassed. The places he wanted to go said "nah" and now he has to live with knowing he's good but not good enough, period.

Why do so many people completely? Ignore the fact that his family received death threats in Winnipeg. After visiting the White House, following the Olympic success, Winnipeg police had to be assigned to his home. Who would blame him for wanting out after giving everything he has given to them for over a decade. Why is this ignored by everyone? He wants out of Canada. Who can blame him?

I feel like the gold medal went to connors head pretty bad and his ego got the best of him; he’s being touted as this American hero all winter/summer and now thinks he’s bigger than the game
