@leokatiecbt: Because OCD is so often reduced to physical cleaning or checking rituals, millions of people remain trapped in silent agony. The most exhausting compulsions leave no trace in the outside world: they occur completely inside your mind. When an intrusive thought strikes, the automatic urge is to avoid it, scan your memory for reassurance, or endlessly ruminate to solve the fear. However, mental avoidance reinforces to the nervous system that a harmless thought is an actual danger. Scanning past moments only muddies the memory, and compulsive rumination tricks you into believing that analyzing the problem will bring relief. Recovery requires learning to recognize these invisible mental habits and refusing to engage, allowing uncertainty to exist without needing to think your way out of it. #mentalcompulsions #pureo #ocdawareness #ocdrecovery #rumination
