![**MISSILES STRIKE NEAR ADEN AIRPORT RUNWAY AS PASSENGER AIRCRAFT PREPARES FOR TAKEOFF** Missiles landed near Aden International Airport in Yemen on October 16, raising serious concerns about civilian aviation safety amid escalating regional fighting. Yemeni Information Minister Moammar Al-Eryani said two missiles fired by Houthi forces landed approximately 500 metres from a passenger aircraft preparing for departure. According to regional media reports, the projectiles struck near the airport runway. No casualties were reported from the incident. The attack followed another reported Houthi strike targeting the presidential palace in Aden the previous day. The latest developments highlight the growing risks to civilian infrastructure as Yemen's conflict intensifies, with potential consequences for transportation, humanitarian operations and regional stability. **Sources / Further Reading:** [Ref 1] The National — October 17, 2026](/video/cover/7697899925413137680.webp)
