her and carrie white had the most justifiable crash outs in all of fiction in my opinion

Yeah this one creator said Jason was never bullied on screen and I'm like okay it was the 50s and he was deformed. What made u think he wasn't being bullied?

From what I heard about the new one, they’re making him a neurotypical kid who was a lab experiment bc everything needs to be Stranger Things now

i thought it was pretty obvious that those kids drowned him on purpose in the original movie

Honestly I thought the main twist was that the counselors deserved it. Pamela snapped after losing her baby and having to see how horribly he was treated by literally everyone except her. I thought they used him being disabled and a bit delayed in his speech, from the few scenes I remember anyway, as an excuse for why he was treated so poorly based on the timeframe of the movie.

I mean I literally saw people say that "she should've put him in a special summer camp that's for people with disabilities", people's media literacy and basic history knowledge is extinct unfortunately😭

Jason lived and died as a child during the era of the ugly laws. His mother loved him and sure she was fucked up but IN THE OG MOVIE it’s shown his facial differences and disabilities are WHY he’s treated the way he is and add that into the recklessness and Carlessness of the people in charge of the children is the whole reason he died. I saw the movie when I was a kid like it was clear as day 😭

Cleft palette and probably craniosintous. But also she legit says “Jason was a special boy who needed to be watched.”

Jason in the 50s would have actively been called "waterhead," and that's the nicest slur

wasn't their like "ugly laws" still in effect during that time line for disabled people?

"she never said he was disabled" what???? do people need to have everything spelled out for them now??? like I will struggle sometimes with subtext but I can still listen to others & fill in gaps that I missed and also even i, a person who hasnt seen a single Jason film, knows hes disabled.

people forget Jasons POINT is a discriminated person being killed and then the consequences returning years later.
making it be an experiment or whatever was going on kinda breaks the point of Jason as a character.
I do understand that this isn't the original movies. it's a new show it's it's own thing but they marketed it as it would be similar

it's the saddest twist to me.
poor kid could have had a fairly "normal" childhood, but had the opposite and his Mama SNAPPED - I would have, too.

sneaky bullying happened to the able bodied cishet white people. and they don't think about the fact that others did not share that experience.

Everyone needs to look up Nerissa and Katherine Bowes-Lyon, they were members of English nobility and THE FUCKING QUEEN’S COUSINS. They were locked away in an asylum and basically forgotten about and they were the close to the top of the class hierarchy. How do people think the son of a working single mother would be treated?

my father who grew up in that time. never got Medicaid for ADHD until he was a full-grown adult because of the stereotype surrounding it because it was so frowned upon And to this day struggles to accept that he needs medication

Also they didn't use the word disabled much in the 1950s. They would have called him something much worse to describe him. So Pamela would have never called him disabled because they didn't refer to people like that as disabled.

I love this woman! She gets horror movies. She sees the art, the message, and the context that builds these movies.
