It’s also why I tell people you can’t compare other cities in America to NYC. NYC Is double the size is the second largest city in America. America doesn’t really have huge cities like they do in Asia.

im actually terrified of going to megacities (something i need to get over!) because until i was 18 the tallest building id ever seen was like 6 stories i think. like i thought just all tall buildings over 10 floors were skyscrapers deadass and plenty of people i know did too until traveling as adults. but yea i visited new york and had a panic attack because i got so claustrophobic on the street (the buildings do an optical illusion when you look straight up that made me very queasy! but it was so addicting to do that i kept doing it and it literally sent my body into panic mode 😭 rural state problems)

It’s because the streets are much narrower so the buildings are packed in tighter + way more buildings so it feels and is much more vast

You’ve never experienced what a true mega city is until you go to the pearl river delta in China. Area the same size as New Jersey but it’s a bunch of interconnected cities with over 75 million people in it it’s just never ending concrete and people till you hit mountains
