💯 I’m a therapist and what I’ve learned over time is that everything is about being safe. People pleasing earns approval = safety. Perfectionism prevents criticism =safety. Everything is about safety. And money guarantees it because when it’s yours, no one can take it away or withhold it or make you “earn” it in ways that demean you or make you feel ashamed for asking for it.

So I love the concept here, but I do wanna say is somebody who grew up in poverty, and now has money, I still struggle with anxiety. And my anxiety is not rooted in money. It is just general anxiety and it comes and goes and occasionally I have panic attacks unprovoked and for no reason. I’m very well-versed in personal finance and education around money, but I do still suffer with anxiety. So while I have security in the ability to do pretty much whatever I would like at whatever point I would like, the money didn’t take away the anxiety for me
