Some of the black community that have personal vendettas towards mixed ppl treat them like how white people treat black people whenever they wanna talk about their issues. Those same people might even bother to bring up how we’re not “pure/black enough” or call us mutts like it’s an insult, another thing that white supremacists literally invented to dehumanize us ALL centuries ago. I know there’s a slight divide in the black community in who say mixed people are black and claim mixed people, and who say mixed people aren’t black and will “never be black” (also sounds like when a white person would say to them, ‘you’ll never be white.’ Just odd how the people being prejudice use the same tactics on us that were and would be used on them.) I also feel like mixed people are and should identify as mixed even if our experiences are very similar and overlap with the experiences of that of a black person, but what makes it different is some mixed ppl might even experience some privilege for being mixed. And that’s what makes up the mixed experience. Either way, it’s not the exact same and I feel we shouldn’t let how society perceives us write who we are when it doesn’t even make sense to ignore half of who you are because someone said so. “You’ll get pulled over by the cops” or anything that’s basically saying that you’ll get treated the exact same, yes that is very possible and it happens, and it comes with being mixed, but it doesn’t mean you should completely take on that label. You’re a mixed person that experiences racism and that’s normal & you don’t have to be fully black to understand or experience that. It’s also annoying when people act like claiming your full identity as a mixed person automatically equals being anti black. It’s not distancing yourself from the black community, or saying “I’m better than you,” it’s simply acknowledging who you are. It’s as simple as that, nothing more. (I’m aware that there are mixed people who act like this, but I’m saying that not EVERY SINGLE mixed person thinks this way and people shouldn’t automatically assume that’s the case, it’s unfair.) And anytime we simply talk about our experiences or literally anything it’s always reduced to “pushing your sob story onto the black community” it’s just more dismissiveness, and it’s like acting as if we can’t experience racism or prejudice. It’s okay for anyone else to make posts like this except mixed people, or else we’re “whining” or “being victims.” It’s like we’re trying to get ‘outsuffered’ or something. We’re allowed to talk about an issue, and if someone doesn’t take it seriously then simply scroll instead of being like. It’s also interesting how some people say “you don’t experience the same things black people experience” and others say, “you’ll get treated the exact same as a black person.” I feel like sometimes these two things could even be coming from the same people, and are just picking and choosing what talking point they want to stand on when it’s convenient lmao. But most of these things that are said are said by two different sides of the black community: those who claim mixed people, and those who don’t. The most jarring part is when the prejudice shifts into just outright racism, with ppl saying things like “we don’t have to accept you” or reducing mixed ppl to “the leftovers of white people.” It’s honestly rlly disturbing to watch people who understand the pain of systemic racism turn around and use the exact same language of genetic purity, hierarchies, and degradation against people who share their heritage. We’re human beings, not fractions or fractions of a groups leftovers. If you claim to fight white supremacy, you shouldn't be using its exact playbook to dehumanize mixed individuals. #fyp #mixed #biracial #mixedcommunity #multiracial
