OP can’t possibly be grateful for something he refuses to share with her; that kind of “I know your secret but I won’t say which one” play is designed to either get someone to panic and confess stuff or just make them squirm, and neither of those involve actually having dirt on the person, let alone genuinely exposing them. And outing a person because they weren’t grateful enough for you not outing them when they didn’t know that you knew they were gay? Baffling behaviour. He was looking for an excuse to out her where it didn’t look like he was just doing it to be an asshole, yet it failed spectacularly. “If you’re not grateful enough that I don’t endanger your life, I’m going to endanger your life — but I’m not going to tell you that I have the knowledge to endanger your life, I just expect you to be grateful for something I won’t tell you about”.
