@mollz.e: Filmed this out of pure frustration on my last day of school. It genuinely breaks my heart that teaching isn’t what it used to be. I love the kids, and I always will, but something NEEDS to change when it comes to student behavior, accountability, and the lack of parenting. Teachers cannot be expected to do it all. 🥲 #exteacher #teachertiktok #quittingteaching #wfh #fyp
it’s lack of parenting but it’s ALSO the sickening amount of screen time/technology/social media that kids have

Teachers also need to be paid more and the system needs to stop moving kids to the next grade if they are not proficient.

I taught in the public school system for five years. It was so bad that I don’t even want to put my own children in public schools. 😬

Also, no more saving them from everything and creating learned helplessness. Productive struggle is a good thing.

Yep. 100%. Genuinely, we HAVE TO start holding kids back. I teach 11th grade and they don’t care because they know they can just “do it in study skills or online in summer school.” There’s unlimited chances…

We can also tell when parents communicate with their children by yelling.

I was a first year teacher who quit mid year. The behaviors, lack of support, and constant blame was insane. I was in a 2nd grade classroom where no teaching was happening because I was having to evacuate my room 3-4 times a week because of two students. I got such bad anxiety and it really affected my mental health. I'm so thankful that I left. There's no accountability for any of these behaviors and the blame is always on the teacher. I now work for a university where I'm respected, have an actual work life balance and so much support. Teachers deserve so much better.

Don’t even get me started about how sad it is that parents expect teachers to do everything so they can feel better about doing nothing academic with their kids at home.

I agree with what you're saying, but I think you can be loving and set expectations without being a frightening figure for your kids!

No no no no….it starts with your leaders of the school system. You are only as strong as your leaders. When you have weak leaders who DO NOT SUPPORT what the education system is, then the system will FAIL. Yes, it is parenting, BUT hear me out…we have people writing the rules and mandates that will not back up the ones having to to enforce those rules and mandates…well, that’s a problem. You cannot demand teachers to do this and that and not support them then throw them under the bus and that is what is happening. You cannot demand teachers dress up in a suit all day long and call it what you want but until it decides what side of the system it wants to see succeed then it will crumble and fall. 25 years of teaching experience here and the last two years have been nothing but hell, too much “extra extra extra” work, and not enough concentration on what we are there to do. I’m sorry what…evaluate me on an I can statement…goodbye!!

This is so important for people to understand about our education system, it’s not the same as it used to be!! Parents don’t realize that we don’t want to contact you, so if we are, it’s for a good reason!!

Yeppp! I love my mom, have a GREAT relationship with her, she was never abusive, and I was RESPECTFUL to every single adult in the school. The couple of times I had a tiny behavior incident I was scared of my mom, literally ill to let her down! These kids don't care about adults in the schools. They have no fear of their parents, no respect for elders & it translates at school.

This plus the pension has been diminished equals more and more turnover for the younger teachers. I see it every year
