It should be free or at minimum much cheaper. BARTs fare is a graduated system meaning the more stops you go the more you pay. They should have a flat fee based on zones of travel and it should have daily limits so if you ride a ton in one day at some point is free.

It’s Silicon Valley, we have GLOBAL companies based here, companies like GOOGLE APPLE META CISCO ETC, public transportation should not only be free but WAYYYYYY more robust

I don't think it should be free, because I think utilizing it should cost more than the general payment by all tax payers, but I think it should be a once-a-year charge for your rider card (which should cover BART, Muni, and city buses in ALL cities) and it should literally be $20 for the YEAR. Cause if it costs as much to ride PT as it does for me to drive, that is ABSURD.

If not making it cheaper or free, we should get a tax benefit for choosing public transportation over driving. It'll be easy to track annual spend for those with a Clipper card account.

Hot take: BART operating costs should be inside the operating budgets of the cities that use it. It shouldn’t be offloaded onto us to maintain it.

People get really mad when I say I don’t mind more taxes if Bart promised lower fares, longer times running etc, instead of asking for more money with no real plan and oversight, they already get a bite of my property tax. I would take bart but it’s literally CHEAPER to drive

100%. We pay enough in taxes for this… use the MILLIONS. A day they make from bridge tolls to subsidize it. People won’t stop driving, but BART and Muni should be free in SF, and a lot cheaper in general outside the city.
