@danceteachermb: I saw the trend that said to take one of your recent videos and pair it with this audio, and I don’t think I could’ve chosen a more fitting video if I tried. For almost my entire adult life, I tried to convince myself that dance couldn’t be my career. Not because I didn’t love it, but because I didn’t think I could make a living doing it. I went to nursing school, only to realize that wasn’t where my heart was. I worked as an operations manager for a home healthcare company. Eventually, I found myself teaching high school Health & PE because teaching dance part-time wasn’t quite enough to make ends meet. And I want to be clear: I’ve loved every single position I’ve held for different reasons. Each one taught me something, helped me grow, and brought incredible people into my life. But no matter how many times I tried to build a life outside of dance, somehow, someway, I always found myself being pulled right back to it. And each time, dance became an even bigger part of my life. Last year, my husband broke his arm at our wedding (yes, you read that correctly 🤣), and life took a turn we never could’ve anticipated. I made the difficult decision to step away from teaching at the high school to help care for him. During that season, we decided together that maybe it was finally time for me to stop treating dance like something I had to fit around another career and start giving it everything I had. And I don’t think either of us could’ve imagined what would happen next. This past year has been nothing short of a dream. I’ve gotten to teach dance full-time at a studio I absolutely love, travel across the country adjudicating competitions, encourage and uplift dancers from all walks of life, and most recently, connect with so many incredible people through sharing my love for dance online. And then I watch a video like this one. A dancer accomplishes a skill she’s been working toward, and we’re BOTH smiling from ear to ear. I’m celebrating her accomplishment like it’s my own. And I realize that THIS is what I’ve been searching for all along. Not a job title. Not a paycheck. Not a career that looks impressive on paper. A life that feels fulfilling. A career that allows me to make a difference. And the opportunity to spend my days doing something that makes my heart genuinely happy. I truly believe God has a funny way of making sure we end up exactly where we’re supposed to be. Sometimes the path looks nothing like what we planned. Sometimes it takes years of trying to walk in a different direction before we realize what was right in front of us the entire time. But what’s meant for you has a way of finding you. 🤎 So here’s your reminder, whether you’re chasing a dream you’ve had since childhood or discovering a new one along the way: I don’t believe God places a dream on your heart without a reason. Keep working. Keep growing. Keep showing up, even when the path doesn’t make sense. And please don’t convince yourself that something you love can’t become something more. I spent years trying to find my way away from dance, only to realize it was leading me exactly where I needed to be. And to dance, thank you for never really letting me go. You were right there all along. 🥹 #danceeducator #danceteacher #rightthereallalong #CapCut
