@karenminerhurd: They told me that I would need my right shoulder joint completely replaced. They offered me 3 things: 1) NSAIDs (ibruprofen) 2) Cortisol shots 3) Complete joint replacement surgery. Like totally replaced. i was in pretty bad pain and the MRI confirmed that the damage was extensive. "Were there any other options????" Doc said not really if I wanted to keep my mobility. Hubs heard that and said that it sounded like the only choice. Recovery time is 6 - 9 months! So I did what I knew to do: 1) Prayed. Believed God for healing. Got prayer from my church, family and friends. Nothing happens without prayer. 2) I have a favorite boswellia blend that helped me with a neck issue and other discomfort.....so I immediately began that. Kept up with my regular protocol. 3) supported my joints and connective tissue with 2 different kinds of collagen. Both were needed. 4) did some PT - digitally. The pain stopped pretty quickly. I seemed pretty mobile. On top of that the crunchy sounds when one has aging joints - stopped. On my last pre-op visit the week before the surgery, I showed the doc how I could move. I had ZERO pain. ZERO. "Well then, your surgery is elective. You don't have to have it." "4 months ago, you said it was my only choice." "It's elective now." "Then I'm cancelling!!!!!" I did a little in person PT and added red light therapy to what I was doing. 3 weeks later I was able to worship the Lord with the flags at church. Still do! Pain free. All the mobility I need. Here's the lesson: 1) The medical opinion is not final. You must have the attitude you can beat the prognosis - even if they say, "no options". 2) PRAYER. 3) What you do matters. I believe that the protocol I use to support joints, connect with tissue and muscle were very important in helping me avoid surgery. I know it's not always possible, and sometimes the surgery is necessary. I get that. Still, not without a fight in my book. Drop RELIEF and I'll get you the protocol that helped me with massive joint discomfort....and gave me options the doc said were off the table. #jointpain #shoulder #healthyaging #mobility #collagen
