100% vote for people you think can or would actually change things and do work to further your political goals that does not change the fact that at the end of the day, as it stands in our current system, someone will be put in charge as the president, and we know for a fact there are not enough voters, as it currently stands, that will vote for a 3rd party. there just isn't. so it will either be the "do nothing people who perpetuate a more or less consistent level of harm" or the "we are going to make things 100× worse people" and it is so much easier, safer, and with much less, not without, blood to organize under the former. if at the final voting booth you throw away your vote to a person guaranteed not to win (again the math just does not math) you are helping the worse party win. again both are absolutely and totally horrendously evil but you cannot actually say within reason trump is not the worst of any outcome America had the ability to vote for. this is "do everything you can to change the systems and create a better world but know that until it has been changed there will be consequences so make sure you choose the best options fight back under", and not at all "just vote blue" but if that's the take away I can't help you.

I’m enjoying this discourse between liberals and leftists—because it is in fact between libs and lefties. What I don’t understand is why the libs don’t apply the same thinking and logic to third party candidates? After all, the leftist candidate plans to do away with all the capitalist and imperialist policies. Why act as though choice is between evil and lesser evil when there’s in fact a third option, the good one? Why devote your vote on a person who’d not do away with the evil? Libs are fond of saying that voting for a third party candidate is the same as giving your vote to the opposite side, but I believe that accusation could also be made of them, moreso because they favoured lesser evil over good.

I would fw this but you forgot the most important human quality of politics: nuance. You view this as “party has good candidate and qualities = we all are going to vote for them” when we all know that would never happen as cool it would be. In this climate we can only pick the lesser of 2 evils who leaves room for growth over a candidate who is perfect but never gets elected. In hooper terms, the Charlotte Hornets are owned by Michael Jordan but that doesn’t mean they are going to win like he did or even get a single ring. The Green Party can’t just jump to a presidency, they gotta get a lot more people in congress first if this change is possible in the close future. You can’t do a marathon without first learning to jog.

you haven’t disputed any of there claims tho. obviously those candidates have better top to bottom policies but they will simply never win in a 2 party system. objectively speaking, voting for them is equivalent to a vote towards somehow who is actively going to be antagonistic to POC, trans people, etc.
