This is not a nonemergency line type. I think this is you call 911.

As a parent I would show up with police and have a report written that the dad neglected the child because wtf

No I’d be calling the emergency line!!! If neither parent would pick up its child abandonment, let the police sort it out, and make sure you add the extra cost to their next bill!! I’ve called the police for child abandonment for a similar issue in the UK, we closed at 5:30, the parents did alternate weeks, so every other week, mum left the kid and said ‘dad can get her I’m done for the week’ (it was Tuesday) and so we called the dad and he said ‘I’m not going to collect them unless the police are there, I won’t call but I legally cannot take them home with me or it’s kidnapping, call her back’ so we called her back, she said no, so we called the police, dad met them at the nursery and did it legally and took the kid home, he got full custody a few months later. The mum was ‘done’ because she wanted to spend more alone time with her new husband…it was *wild*

i hate these things. i’ve had to deny a dad from taking his literal baby cuz we’d gotten a legal document saying “dad can’t get child”.

I was typing about nonemergency when she said it, but as the mom, I'd have the order with me, the daycare proving he said it wasnt his time to gwt the child and have the officer there as a witness that the child was left there and as a parent I was being responsible and choosing the safety of my kid... have it documented, have it reported.

yeah I genuinely wouldn't care and I'm in the middle of a custody case if you're not coming to get my kid to me that says you're forfeiting time

after an hour I get to call the cops unless I'm in contact with you and know that you're stuck in traffic or that something has happened. Also think about the overage charge that was accrued for 3 hours of extra pay for someone. because everyday care that I have worked at or had my child in had a clause saying that you will pay x amount of dollars for the first 15 minutes and then a different amount for every minute after.

at a daycare i worked at, the parent could sign the kid out through a qr code with their phone or we could mark them picked up and we had a kid who by court mandate had to be signed out by the parent because the custody battle and consent parental fighting. it was heartbreaking to watch

For those first 30 minutes, you would call either parent find out what the custody arrangement is for that time and then try and get the parent who legally has time down there to come pick up the child if no one comes to pick up they’re legally required to call the cops and cps after that

as someone who has gone through that the primary custodial parent always has responsibility for that. Just get a note from the daycare that the other party refused to pick them up and you'll be finem

I feel for the mom. I cannot imagine how that would feel as a mom. It would be crazy hard to know that if you picked up your kid you could lose them entirely

The plan wouldn’t have worked anyway. All mom would need is the daycares statement that dad refused to collect the child and that it was after closing. Mom can then use it against dad as abandoning the child and entrapment

Since both parents did not contact each other or contact their lawyer or even law enforcement then both parents should be charged with child neglect

Yeah, I’d report the child was abandoned and let the cops and CPS figure it out. Not my problem and I’m not getting involved in other people’s drama. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Now mom can pick up the kid every weekend while dad is in jail. 🤷♀️
