Such thing will never happen, because the Technological society will destroy itself long before problems like pollution or deforestation are solved. Economy is also not the only factor since the system follows short-term growth over long-term stability. You should read the essay of Ted Kaczynski "Why the techno-industrial system will destroy itself". It's very well written.

This would perhaps be believable if it wasn't for the fact that these problems are going to be much much faster at destroying the human race than the capitalist model will be at fixing said problems. The line where we all die will be crossed before the line where the companies will start to look out for our well being to keep us consuming.
