omment appetite for more satiety scores and different foods that keep you full for longer! Lepton and grain are the hormones that are responsible for keeping your appetite in check. Ghrehlin tells you when you are hungry (think growl) and Lepton tells you when you are full or satisfied (aka the satiety hormone). Thylakoid is a compound that’s found in the membrane of green leafy veg! 🍃 and has been seen to support appetite regulation as it facilitates the release of leptin! This means eating green veggies like spinach can help too man your cravings! The unfortunate reality about nutrition sciences that it is still new so we do not have a lot of research that is robust. There are quite a few animals studies that looked into thylakoid (found in the membranes of green leafy veg) and its effect on promoting satiety and reducing appetite. One of the more promising human studies showed that taking thylakoid 1st thing in the morning resulted in 43% weight loss, 21% reduction and appetite, reduce sweet cravings by 38% and salty snack cravings by 30%! unfortunately, the number of participants was really small but I am hoping to see similar research emerge in future on larger populations! Overall spinach has a satiety score of 100% which makes it a great green leafy vegetable to incorporate regularly into a diet overall! Let me know if I should make this a series so that I can go into the different society schools of different food groups and foods! I already know a protein part two is on the way! #dietitian #blackdietitian #appetite
