Ok but here me out… she was driving a Chevrolet pick up truck. These trucks have had the gear shift behind the steering wheel for a long time. How did a child push the breaks and move the gear simultaneously?

Only thing i could possibly think...she was sleeping and one of the kids were playing and somehow made it go to drive and sat on the gas pedal... no way it was a truck malfunction and no way she had a medical issue

I just read a post that said she was in the truck with two kids and fell asleep. The sun shade was up (not air bags like you said) and then one of the kids knocked the gear into drive and it started rolling. She hit the gas instead of the break and didn’t realize what was happening because she couldn’t see because of the sun shade.

Lady sleeping/resting. Truck is on for A/C. Kid is awake and knocked the car into drive somehow. Maybe mom’s foot was on pressed on gas pedal. Took her a while to wake up and realize what was going on? Possible, I’m eager to see what the detectives say.

If your car is running & it falls into gear, however it does, you ARE responsible for whatever happens. I felt unwell at my nephew's soccer game last weekend that I drove my in-laws to, i parked and got into the passenger seat while it was turned on to auxiliary power and they watched the game. Safety is amd should be your FIRST thought always

I used to work in a hospital and these kinds of things happened all the time. It’s crazy how fast cars get when somebody slams or falls on the wrong pedal. Some injured or older person would accidentally slam on the gas in the parking lot and take out 4-5 cars within a couple seconds.

The old raggedy ass fields my son played on at least had sawed off telephone posts between parking and the fields. Feels like this should be a bare minimum for designing fields.

Why do we not have more than just a curb between parking and fields?! If there isn’t hills or a ditch this is terrible design to start.

If she would have gone the way you are describing she would have had to make a sharp turn to get where she ended up. If not and went straight with a slight bend then it's the other parking lot. The larger one. And she is seen in the videos traveling along the sidelines not going across fields.

It’s weird tho because it was cool here yesterday like 60’s last night when it happened so it’s weird she’d even have the car running but also those trucks don’t just slip into gear. I’m not saying it was intentional but if you were conscious your instant reaction would be to brake hard not accelerate. It’s very odd but they should have never put those fields on that land. RIP to all have perished on that land.
