@skillsshapeaba: What if the missing piece in a child’s treatment plan isn’t another therapy hour, but what happens during the other 23 hours of their day? This week, two families shared how dramatically their everyday lives have changed in just a few weeks. One celebrated two weeks without aggression at school after previously experiencing daily incidents. At Skills Shape ABA, we don’t just teach skills to children. We teach parents how to create the conditions where those skills can actually work. We model, practice, troubleshoot, and give families tools they can use long after the session ends. And I teach my RBTs to understand this, too. I’m preparing future BCBAs who know that working with a child also means learning how to support the people around them. A treatment plan shouldn’t live in a binder, a data sheet, or a therapy room. It should live in the family’s everyday routines. That’s why parent training isn’t an extra in our model.
