Everything you need to know about trekking to Everest Base Camp 🏔️👇🏼 pt. 1 🛩️ The trek starts in Lukla, a small village in the mountains. So you first need to fly from Kathmandu to Lukla. The price is pretty standard for tourists - around $200 one way. 🛬 Lukla airport is known as one of the most dangerous airports in the world due to the short landing strip and extreme mountain conditions. Don’t let this deter you - the flight is safe and the views are stunning! 🇳🇵Once you get to Lukla, you’ll start off my getting your permit and a newly issued trekking card (so it’s easier to check in along the way). 🥾 The trek is about 80 mi (128 km) roundtrip and can take anywhere from 10-14 days. The trek is pretty moderate, just super long but the real challenge is the altitude. 💤 The most important thing is to listen to your body and take acclimatization days as needed to make sure you stay safe. 🛖 There are about 10 small villages that you’ll be passing through which is where you can eat and sleep as needed. 🫖 These lodging places are known as teahouses and can be found all over these villages. ✨ during the busy season, it’s required to book in advanced because they do get filled up ✨ 🔥 The teahouses offer pretty basic lodging, restaurants with warm food, and even a nightly fire to warm up before bed. These can range anywhere from $3.50 to $12 a night. 💂🏻‍♂️ Lastly, it’s not required to go with a guide & it will be much cheaper if you go alone. However, I would only recommend doing so if you have the proper knowledge and experience. It’s more of a safety concern trekking alone at such high altitudes. ✌🏼 Stay tuned for part 2 of everything you need to know about trekking to EBC! 🇳🇵 #everestbasecamptrekking #trekkingnepal #trekkingebc
