@konah619: 🇨🇳 CHINA TOOK A VERY DIFFERENT APPROACH TO EDUCATION — AND IT CHANGED THE PRIVATE TUTORING INDUSTRY FOREVER. 🎓 In 2021, China introduced a sweeping education reform designed to reduce academic pressure on children and the financial burden on families. Under its controversial “Double Reduction” policy, for-profit tutoring in core school subjects for students in compulsory education faced strict restrictions, while existing academic tutoring institutions were required to register as nonprofits. The goal? To stop the intense competition that pushed children into endless after-school classes and forced parents to spend heavily just to keep their kids ahead. 📚 WHAT CHANGED? 🔹 Profit restrictions: Academic tutoring providers could no longer operate under the same for-profit model as before. 🔹 Less academic pressure: The policy aimed to reduce excessive homework and the hours children spent in private tutoring. 🔹 Restrictions on classes: Academic tutoring faced major limits on weekends, public holidays, and school vacations. 🔹 A shift in priorities: The government wanted schools to play a greater role in education instead of allowing an expensive tutoring race to dominate children's lives. The impact was enormous. China's education authorities reported that the number of offline tutoring companies fell by 83.8% and online tutoring companies by 84.1% following the crackdown. However, the story didn't end there. By October 2024, Reuters reported that parts of China's private tutoring industry were beginning to rebound as regulatory enforcement softened, even though no formal reversal of the original policy had been announced. 💭 THE BIG QUESTION: Should education be treated primarily as a public service, or should private companies be allowed to profit from helping students succeed? China's approach remains controversial, but it raises a question that matters to families everywhere: Should a child's educational opportunities depend on how much their parents can afford to spend? 👇 What do you think? Should countries put stricter limits on for-profit tutoring to make education fairer? Share your opinion in the comments! There is no point in trying to profit from education because there’s not much money in it and you can only get so many students into one room with one teacher. A proper school provides an assistant teacher wants the number of students hits 20 to 22 per classroom. That’s because results are the goal instead of making money and for the teachers to gain positions and titles and feel important about themselves even though they never finished high school back in England.

Except then, all your children are being taught by the government. I don’t know if private school education can teach its own curriculum but independent thinking is not a bad thing.
