I think this person sounds neurodivergent. In which case she may have selective mutism. I have students with this. It can come off as rude if you aren’t aware (and from their point of view it’s rude that we talk so much). 😂 But it’s a VERY real diagnosis and can be very limiting/disabling for those that have it.

I definitely wouldn’t have entertained this. I had someone like this as a buyer (I’m a realtor) and I flat out asked her if she was ok because she’s not speaking and then told her she’s going to have to communicate if she wants to buy a house

See, I would have sat down and looked her straight in the face and said "are you going to talk at all or act rude and bizarre"? Cause I don't have patience for this kind of attitude. Then I would have said if you can't talk then we are gonna do whatever we need to for hair, makeup and pictures. Or ask her to leave.

I have 2 gen z coworkers. they said they do that people they refuse to participate in performative interactions. so if someone is overly friendly they "shut it down" by being unfriendly. thry dont see how that in itself is performative

I've only encountered the stare once. Incredibly bizarre behavior and as an awkward anxious AuDHD person in perimenopause I do not know what to do with it. I can mask for just about any kind of person but I don't know what to do with this😭

My Gen Z cousins are so weird. They barely talk to anyone outside of their immediate family and bring their mom to their kids’ doctor appointments to speak for them.

My 21 year old nephew is this way. My sister says he’s very empathetic . I called BS. No one who cares about others’ feelings would be so rude.
