I did this, I see my boy every week, since we lost our home and went through a rough place financially and I had no support system single disabled mum, and after I lost my baby stillborn I went down hill so I put my boy in foster care Temporarily til I get my life sorted, it's hard but he's in a better place

We do not offer parents enough support especially when they have high support needs. Our government fails the children and the parents.

I understand this. My son is autistic/adhd/pda and I haven’t had any support whatsoever and it physically and mentally exhausting! It’s so incredibly hard, nobody understands and everyone criticizes.

As a child who didnt receive what they needed, send your baby to where they can receive that, they DESERVE that. You are not weak for needing help, people always scream about how “it takes a village”, until someone needs that village.. when mom/dad/guardian finally snap and reach out to that village they seem nowhere to be found and can only scream about how you failed as a parent for some stupid reason. HELP IS NOT FAILURE. Every child deserves the help they need, even if it’s not the conventional help or what you yourself would do… just because it’s not what YOU would do, doesn’t mean it’s the wrong way of doing something, life isn’t black and white or ever so simplistic… being a parent is hard, making decisions is hard, but the best parents will always put their child before their feelings, parents don’t do this because they don’t care, they do this because they DO care…

I am proud of her for asking for help and making this tough decision. There is so much societal guilt that moms get for everything…she cannot continue to pour from her empty cup…

I'm an autistic person that was hated by both my parents. if you can't love your child and treat your child the way that your child needs absolutely! give your baby to somebody that can

Would you rather have her place him in foster care or would you rather have her be spending her entire life in prison because she just can’t do it anymore?

We need whole family care, included in a single payer healthcare system that takes care of everyone preventatively

This is caregiver burnout. The judgiest of you have dumped your elderly parents in care homes for less. She needs a reprieve and respite too.

Oh, she’s in Texas. There is no help here. Even school districts, do not have enough funding for teachers and staff. I don’t think he will be safe in CPS custody either. The TX state govt. do not care either and there is no funding.

People forget Autism is genetic meaning the mother may be Autistic too!!!! Its like people are judging her without considering that she may be on the edge (even outside of her child). Now compound that with having high responsibility.

For adult care this is called respite. No such thing seems to exist for special needs kids.
