@cliff_notes: After insisting that I receive oxygen and aspirin and demanding that the testing the ER team told me was necessary actually be completed, I was finally discharged. Patients deserve transparency throughout their treatment. We deserve to understand what tests are being ordered, why they’re being performed, what the results mean, and why a treatment plan changes. We should not have to fight to get clear answers about our own health. Especially as Black women, we must feel empowered to advocate for ourselves when something doesn’t feel right. Asking questions is not being difficult. Expecting clear communication is not being confrontational. And advocating for your health should never be treated as a problem. Your health. Your questions. Your right to understand your care. #PatientAdvocacy #fyp #HealthcareTransparency #PatientRights #patientsafety

Does your discharged instruction mention to also follow up with psychiatry?

I've been a nurse for 30 years. The nurse has zero control over how long it takes for a ct scan to be done. Or for any other test not done by them.

Your troponin peaked at 9? Cath lab nurse here and they should have told you what your labs were but not a cardiac emergency. Not saying they handled amazing but there is a way to advocate for yourself in a less aggressive way. CT angiogram could have been done outpatient. If elevated troponin were a cause of concern they would have cathed you. Not being a smart ass but what are you upset about? You wanted to leave and they wanted to keep you?

That is not what social workers do , we would call child protective or whomever you have to watch your child. There are not emergency childcare providers for free, I actually wish there were.

seeing your first videos about this I was so confused as to why you had not been given aspirin or nitro and labs immediately and then it clicked that racism is a big issue in healthcare and how dangerous it is. I'm an RN and had a cardiac event last year, came in with chest pain radiating to my jaw and about to pass out. I was in a wheelchair immediately. they handed me several aspirin, had labs, and an ekg done before I was even fully laying in the bed. and that is another example of white privilege. I'm glad you advocated for yourself and I'm so sorry that you even had to. the standard of care should not change based on bias. it is that serious. it is life or death in these situations.

Love (sarcasm) how the top comments, despite not having as many likes, are the most negative toward you. You did right by yourself and your son. I hope you look into malpractice for those "providers" nurses included.

Just as so many of your videos talk about things that pharmacists DONT do, please listen to the commenters saying that hospital social workers DONT arrange childcare for patients. IF (big if) there are resources available for childcare, we provide them and encourage patients to follow up. We can help call emergency contacts to help with childcare if a patient is incapacitated. We also contact child welfare services (CPS/CWS/CFWB) due to no friends/family being available to care for said child, and there are no childcare resources available. It’s typical practice that minors are unable to stay at bedside without another adult present.

I’m a hospital social worker and unfortunately our policy is to call CPS if a patient doesn’t have anyone to watch their kid. There are no resources for us to find or provide childcare

You got a CT coronary within 24 hours? That is impeccably expedient care and not an emergent test for the ER. Being done the next morning is standard of care
