I know you can bring a firearm while fishing in Florida, but is it legal to defend yourself with it? Like where is the line between defending yourself and unnecessarily poaching a gator? and would it even help or is it over so fast you it is pointless.

I love animals and I defend animals more than humans most of the time lol all I’m trying to say it’s its own natural instinct. That’s just what they’re made to do is follow their instinct to survive. It’s totally wrong because this man had passed away like that, but we can’t blame the animal either. It’s its natural instinct.

Aweful. He was fishing in a retention pond. Floridians know gators are in every body of water.

I live in the area, this gator was a local and yes was being fed. I know FWC was called regarding it being fed . I also see people fishing with kids right at the edge of the water knowing there’s giant gators there! It’s literally a pond off lake Apopka! Not a gator problem, 💯 human error! Prayers to my neighbor who lost his life

I’m a native I’ve never ever had a gator chase me or attack me. I tell people all the time to not feed them because they’ll associate you with food. Tht poor gator it’s not his fault
