Don't tell anyone you're going for matalafi. When I worked in forestry in American Samoa I went to pick some and felt heavy like I was being watched. Every leaf had holes so I took none. I told the person who sent me and they said the bad spirits were around it and I wasn't supposed to tell. I went back and found a whole bunch of good leaves. If you tell the aitu ruin them.
