SUCH A GREAT ANALYSIS i never connected the similarities in behavior. ben always rubbed me the wrong way, i hated the way he immediately told grace “well the good news is you’re feeling better” and even when SHE said “no i don’t.” he doesn’t comfort her or even try to further solve the problem. and then, his immediate acceptance of her solution to talk to someone shows that he just wants to restore the normalcy between them, at least the way i interpret it. he’s in a rush to smooth it over and have things back on track. buddy does the same! he repeats over and over multiple times to the kids that “it’s okay” and that he’s not mad, and emphasizes that if they just come back it will all go back to normal, despite none of them wanting that. in both scenarios the kids and grace don’t want to ignore that problem and “reset” back to normal

Yeah I wondered that too - in shows / films like this, almost nothing is just a coincidence. I can’t figure out how it fits, especially since we see benny in the basement workshop. But there has to be something there. Even if it’s just a metaphor for them both being blind to the problems around them.

I thought it was like a magical signature. Like, he's the one who rewrote reality, taking Freddy from where she should be, so you see his image there. Like, if you've ever seen Buffy, when Giles had Buffy do a trance to see if the cause of her mother's illness was a spell or something. Giles said if someone had like cast a spell to cause problems with her throat, in the trance, you might see the hands of that someone choking her mother. That's what crossed my mind.

waitt and like that's actually pretty smart, like freddy is the only person who has any memories and family that was also put in the show, so mabey buddy realized bc him and ben have been companions grace and Freddie would be the easiest people to get onto the show
