the most confusing part of any of this is that somehow a purpose built lightweight car shell doing theatrics like this with compressed air is meant to be a milestone for capitalism and I see people use it *everywhere* to show how far ahead the US is compared to anyone else, particularly socialist states. this isn't a real vehicle, there's no guarantee it'll ever be made, and it's just a dumb marketing gimmick, what exactly does this prove?

This is the part that’s annoying about the Roadster reveal; the reason some of us were so sure that flip was cgi is because with Musk, there is always a scam, we had just thought it was the trick, not you know, the car 😅 Which is probably naive of us lol. But if they did the trick practically the way they said (ie just basically on a super scaled down chassis that would never function as a real car) we don’t even just get to enjoy it as an impossible proof of concept for the suction system thing we all know won’t work in a real car, because Musk is out here trying to convince people that “no trust me guys, the “Rocket Roadster” will be a real car that can do the jump it’ll just be INVITE ONLY AND NOT FOR USE ON PUBLIC ROADS.” UH HUH 🤣 Like if you pre-order this “regular” Roadster, you’re going to be lucky if you get an expensive car that maybe goes a little bit faster than other cars, and you might also get nothing! Like why gamble on that?

Elon Musk is not in the selling cars business. he's in the selling company shares business. so he needs to pull these fake promotional stunts every now and then in order to hypnotize wall street and investors into buying Tesla shares and boosting it's artificial valuation.
