As a Romanian, we are masochists for liking agglutination logic in our language, especially in being able to concatenate curses that would crumble Hogwarts and scare Voldemort.

Coincidentally, the North Germanic (Scandinavian) languages do this too.

It is a quite interesting discussion, as Slavic languages don’t have definite article, with the exception of Bulgarian and Macedonian. So it is a commonality for the Balkan languages having influenced each other in very strange ways (it’s difficult to discuss Greek or Albanian in this context as these don’t have close ‘neighbours’).

Although Turkish isn’t a related language it’s an interesting theory that as a Balkan group the definite article is at the end of the word but if you ask a regular person in Turkey unfortunately they’re taught in English class that there is no “the” in Turkish which isn’t true at all. I saw the man = Adamı gördüm. “I” at the end of adam (man) makes it “the man”

Just to confuse everyone, "the tulips" is "lalelele" in Romanian, where the first "le" is part of the root word, the second stands for the "S" (plural) and the third stands for "the".

Years ago I did some work in Kosovo with the Albanians. I noticed grammatical similarities with romance languages. It was so long ago, and I didn't get a chance to document it.

I just hate when they call it "Romance" language. Is Latin, is it that hard to say.
Also romanian is derivative from the vulgara (common latin speaking language- spoken by the commoner) and the rest derivate from the high latin (spoken by the high born)
