@nourishingapothecary: Taking vitamin D? Let’s talk about vitamin K2. They both play a role in bone health, but they do different jobs. Vitamin D helps your body absorb calcium. Vitamin K helps activate proteins involved in how your body uses it, including osteocalcin in bone. That’s why I consider them together when looking at someone’s bone health, particularly as they get older. The one I’m showing here is Herbs of Gold Vitamin K2 180 MAX. I often prefer separate products because it lets me adjust vitamin D independently to suit the person. A combination product doesn’t always give me that flexibility. But taking vitamin D doesn’t automatically mean you need K2, and 180 micrograms isn’t a universal dose for everyone. K2 also isn’t proven to move existing calcium out of your arteries. Your diet, medical history and medications matter when choosing supplements. If you take warfarin, speak with your prescriber before adding vitamin K. You can find Herbs of Gold Vitamin K2 180 MAX on our website, along with the other supplements I recommend in clinic.
