What once shocked us eventually becomes ordinary, and we need something louder, more extreme, or more provocative to feel anything at all. We are all, in some way, victims of this. We lose sight of the meaning of a slow, ordinary life, consumed by the relentless pace of everything around us. We lose our sensitivity through constant exposure to things that aren’t pleasant, things we were never meant to witness so bluntly and so frequently. Eventually, we mistake numbness for indifference. But perhaps it’s not that we’ve lost the ability to feel, rather we lost touch with reality itself.
