Friday the 13th has always been a story about love. The love between parent and child and the cruel, selfish world that separated them. I’m so sick of seeing larpers react to this show going “ugh why are they giving horror villains sad backstories” like…this has always been what the series is. “Crystal Lake” simply trims off the fat that is annoying teenagers, gratuitous bikini shots and drunken bonfire parties so that the audience has to face the Voorhees family directly.
