I got it for Christmas one year from my mom and step dad, i went downstairs to play it and my step dad came down to get a beer and looked at the tv and said "what movie are you watching? I thought you'd be playing your game" I said "it is my game" and he stopped and turned around and sat on the couch drinking his beer and watched me play. We were both blown away at ffX graphics at the time

I really miss how quickly games used to come out. I still love modern games, but having to wait 5-10 years for a sequel really sucks! it's been 15 years since Skyrim came out, and still no sequel

tbf, ff7 was meant to be released on the n64. Nintendo and Sony were working on a disk based system B4 Nintendo pulled out and Sony took the project and created the first PlayStation. SquareSoft then pivoted the game to be released on the PS1 bc it was the more powerful console at the time.

And many FF fans wanted an FF movie with FFX graphics, and Squaresoft came up with the greyest, most western movie ever that lacked any charm and colour of their games or any eastern influences.

The jump from the N64 to the GameCube absolutely blew my mind as a young kid. I remember seeing the graphics for Super Smash Bros Melee and being convinced graphics would never get better.

The best part was that every generation was a noticeable improvement. Look at the first 3 Super Mario Bros games for NES and then the Super Mario AllStars. Same games, new hardware and our minds were blown. That happened every couple of years too

few weeks ago I played Ocarina of time for the first time on pc in preparation for the remake and playing rn through the remake and omg its so much more thrilling and engaging I can only imagine this is what people saw when they played it back then, when those were leading edge graphics and your child mind can imagine the rest

“The graphics are bad” son, this game made me weep with excitement at seeing those pixels. I used to applaud game physics, I bought games specifically for features. For its time this was the greatest accomplishment of gaming kind. Now go play call of battlefield 76.

And then we were all, “omg your game cutscenes are so good I wish yall would make an entire movie!” And so they did but they also had a convoluted jrpg storyline that the masses aren’t used to, almost bankrupted the studio, and they ignored us ever since 😂
