@millennialelderaz: Matthew McConaughey isn’t entirely wrong in this perspective, but his timing is horrific. An independent vote (save some unique state level scenarios) IS a wasted vote in 2026. Independents are absolutely underrepresented in our current system, and I am all for reforming our current electoral process to platform better candidates. That’s not what is on the ballot, though. Your only choice in the midterms for 2026 is non-fascism.

its not a dumb take.. because you have to vote for the side that opens up the independent vote... One side categorically wants to deny the independent vote and keep it closed forever, and that would be the republican party... So you have to vote democrat or vote blue to get them to open it up...

I like Matthew McConaughey as an actor, but he also thinks Texas is doing the right thing by putting the 10 Commandments into schools, so how independent is he really? The US desperately needs, in my opinion, a legitimate third-party but right now we do not have one, and right now it is absolutely a wasted vote. Hopefully that will not always be the case, but it is at the present.

Exactly what I've been saying. In Arkansas, where I live, we have 3 main candidates for Governor. Anyone that votes for the Independent is likely just going to ensure our current governor is reelected, and she is the worst.

So here in Idaho, we have a independent running against a long-term senator. He’s very popular and has a shot. SO the Democratic Party in idaho pulled their candidate so that he can win over the R. That’s the only way that this is gonna work.
