Football's coming home - is it ****! After the inevitable knockout last night, we have compiled a glorious list of England's achievements in both the FIFA World Cup competitions and the UEFA Euro ones. Being of an age that remembers the 1982 World Cup, which did not feature England as we did not even qualify, we wonder how anyone of our age could think that football is coming home? Beyond the traditional patriotic necessity to support our country's team. It seems like the behaviour of a compulsive gambler on the slots, where they are set up in the casino's favour and designed for the gambler to lose. The gambler thinks,

Eventually, if the gambler has enough money, they will hit a jackpot of sorts. Maybe comparable to the England fan who, if they live long enough, may see England win some kind of International tournament.
