@cuandolavidacambia: We have thousands of words to choose from. Words that can bring us closer, clear up doubt, express affection, or help us begin again. Yet when something matters deeply, even a simple sentence can feel difficult to say. Perhaps the hardest part of communication is allowing ourselves to be seen. Once we speak honestly, someone else gets to know what matters to us. We cannot choose their response, and that uncertainty can keep us quiet longer than we intended. So we wait for the right moment, a little more confidence, or a sign that it is safe to begin. Life goes on, and what we wanted to say stays with us. To the other person, though, our silence may mean something entirely different. There is so much we cannot know about each other without a conversation. Even people who care deeply can spend years unaware of what the other carries inside. Closeness does not give us the ability to read a mind. Maybe connecting begins with being willing to speak before the words feel perfect—and listening without deciding too quickly what someone means. Giving each other enough time to explain, enough room to ask, and the freedom to be honest. How much could change if we felt a little less afraid to begin?
