BOSTON LIGHTS 2026 PLANNING GUIDE Planning a visit to Boston Lights at Franklin Park Zoo? Save this because there are a few things I wish I knew before we went! 📍 WHERE: Franklin Park Zoo, 1 Franklin Park Road, Boston, MA 02121 @Franklin Park Zoo 📅 WHEN: August 14–November 8, 2026 ⏰ HOURS: Aug. 14–Sept. 30: Thursday–Monday, 6–10:30 PM Oct. 1–Nov. 8: Nightly, 5–10:30 PM Last entry is 9:30 PM. 🚗 PARKING TIP: Parking is FREE, and there are lots near BOTH the Zebra and Giraffe entrances. We actually ended up parking and entering at a different entrance than we originally expected, but don’t worry. The Boston Lights route is a one-way loop, so you’ll still experience the entire event regardless of which entrance you use. Valet is also available most nights at the Zebra entrance for $20 on a first-come, first-served basis. 🎟️ TICKETS: Buy online in advance. Tickets are timed, evenings can sell out, and tickets purchased at the gate cost more. Kids under 2 are free. Boston Lights requires a separate ticket from regular daytime zoo admission. 👟 WEAR GOOD WALKING SHOES: The full route is about 1.5 miles and the zoo recommends allowing approximately 60–90 minutes to experience it. 🍿 FOOD + DRINKS: Snacks and concessions are available, so you can grab something while you’re there. 🌧️ CHECK THE WEATHER: Boston Lights is rain or shine, so dress accordingly. Tickets are final and aren’t rescheduled because of rain. 🦁 ONE MORE THING: Go for the lanterns, not the zoo animals. Most indoor animal habitats are closed during Boston Lights and many animals won’t be visible at night. Boston Lights is such a fun way to squeeze another Boston adventure into late summer or fall, and it runs all the way into November!
