@alwaysbeingerica: Australia, please explain this one to me because I am genuinely confused 😂🇦🇺 How is an iron infusion at a medical clinic — including a doctor’s consultation and medical checks — the budget option compared with having one at a nurse-run wellness clinic?! 😭 Not complaining AT ALL about finding the cheaper option 😂 I just need someone to explain how the maths is mathing. #AlwaysBeingErica #Australia #AdelaideLife #LivingInAustralia #IronInfusion
Ive always had to go to the renal clinic or hospital for them, just in case of reactions.

If you need a iron infusion go to the doctors and they will do it I have them done all the time and if that’s not good enough for you pay huge dollars and go to a private clinic

Oh easy - the like spa day vitamin clinic type stuff is all alternative medicine private health type stuff that isn’t subsidised and is of questionable quality. Gubbermint generally speaking are hesitant to fund medicine that isn’t at least effective on-label (with semi-decent studies attached), but like iron is pretty well studied healthcare so it gets the green tick

"Wellness" is an industry and is priced accordingly, plus they didn't go to medical school either.

Oh my gosh, I hope this doesn’t seem creepy. It’s only because I was reading the comments that I saw you filming this outside the Adelaide oval. And you think I’m stalking you I live on the Gold Coast but I did Google a bulk billing place that says it does iron infusions. I don’t know where this is. I’ve never been to Adelaide. Maybe this will help.

The wellness clinic is some influencer style place that will probably give you whatever you want even if you don’t meet criteria for needing one. It probably also does weird saline/vitamin infusions that have no actual medical research surrounding it. To your point re cost - you will not have any Medicare rebate likely for that stuff so you are paying full cost while the dr can claim Medicare rebates. As a healthcare worker I wouldn’t touch the wellness place frankly!

The nurse probably can’t get a Medicare rebate, or a much lower Medicare rebate that doesn’t cover the basic overhead costs. In wound management, nurse practitioner Medicare rebates are way too low to run a clinic

Our healthcare prioritizes making general medical care affordable for everyone. Private clinics generally won't be government subsidized as it would effect their earning potential due to various requirements the government requests such as fee caps I believe. It's also likely that many of their services aren't covered due to not being essential so they just nix the whole thing and target wealthy patrons who are willing to spend on non essential procedures.

I see an Endocrinologist at a Public Hospital, she makes me have blood tests to see how things are going before she schedules for me to have an iron infusion at the hospital, all for free

Because wellness clinics are cash cows frequented by cashed up people who think they need things they saw on tik tok, and will pay anything for it. It’s purely a business. Doctor clinics are businesses with health “ care”
