A PAGE FROM MAMA'S WINTER JOURNAL — December 1974 ❄️📖 Well, the snow came heavy last night... Daddy went out before sunup to shovel the walk. I could hear his boots crunchin' through the kitchen window, transistor radio playing in the garage. By noon, the whole holler was white. That little log house of ours looked like a Christmas card — icicles long as your arm hanging off the porch, and them colored lights Daddy strung up last weekend finally glowing proper. You know the ones — big bulbs, red, green, blue, yellow. The GOOD ones from Sears. The ones that got warm when you touched 'em and made the snow look like stained glass. The barn's all lit up too. I told Daddy we didn't need to waste electric on the barn, but he did it anyways for when the grandkids come. And Lord have mercy — the forest folks came visiting. That old buck has been standing out there by the creek since Tuesday. Just watching. Like he knows he's safe here. And the bunnies — oh, honey, there's four or five of 'em now, hopping down the path. We don't have much, but we have warm windows, a full woodbox, a color TV humming in the living room, and a yard full of God's creatures in the snow. If this ain't rich, I don't know what is. — M. Some winters you don't just remember... you FEEL them in your bones. Pour you some coffee, darlin'. Let's sit a spell and watch the snow fall. #1970sChristmas #vintage70s #70sChristmas #oldfashionedchristmas #70sMemories Would you go back to these days? 🤎
